I know what you are thinking, what in the world is FRG? Well in the military everything is an acronym and FRG stands for Family Readiness Group. We had our FRG meeting today and they had a social worker come in to talk to the kids about a family member getting deployed. It was a great meeting and she even took the older kids out to another room so they can share what is going on with them and how they are dealing with this upcoming deployment. She did a fabulous job too and gave us all some great info on getting things ready. She said something that just stuck in my head and that was whether we are getting deployed or just going off to work or school, we should never leave without having our differences settled. You never know what can happen to us on our way to work or school and it could be our last time we see each other. I know it sounds morbid but it does make you think about life. Our life is so short as it is we should never leave without saying I am sorry or most of all I LOVE YOU. It was something that just made me think and that I would not want to lose a loved one knowing that I did not say I LOVE YOU or I AM SORRY. Think about it.

There once was a man named Charles Plumb and he was a Navy jet pilot in Vietnam. After 75 combat missions, his plane was shot down by a surface to air missle. Plumb ejected and parachuted into enemy hands. He was captured and spent 6 years in a communist vietnamese prison. He survived the ordeal and now lectures on lessons learned from that experience. One day, when plumb was sitting down in a restaurant, a man came up to him and said are you Charles Plumb. Charles said yes I am, how did you know that? The man said I packed your parachute. The man shook his hand and said " I guess it worked " So my question to you is Who's packing your parachute? Everyone has someone who provides what they need to make it through the day. Sometimes in the daily challenges that life gives us we miss what is really important. We may fail to say hello, please, or thank you, congratulate someone on something wonderful that has happened to them, give a compliment, or just do something nice for no reason. As you go through this week, this month, this year, recognize people who pack your parachute.

How did wednesday get to be known as humpday. I know it is in the middle of the week and they say from there it is all down hill for the weekend. I just don't get that, it does not seem the week gets any easier. I also don't believe the week goes faster, I just know it is another day and we should not rush our days, they are going by fast enough as it is. One case in point I have a a daughter in high school and a daughter in middle school, it seem just like yesterday they were born. Once again when the work week gets here we all say " I can't wait for the weekend ". There is a song out there by Trace Adkins and it is your going to miss this, let's slow down and enjoy all the great things we have and the great way in which we get it. Thank God today that you can enjoy this humpday and everyday that we wake up. May God bless each and everyone of you today and everyday.

Today was one of those days when I got the chance to try something new. As you know in past blogs that my foot has been bothering me and I could not run on it. I was talking to a few friends last week and one of them suggested swimming as an alternative. I said I would give it a try and today I started it. I am use to freestyle swimming or shall I say just goofing off swimming. I have never swam with my face in the water and breathing out the side of your mouth . I made a lot of splashing around at first and the instructor was patient with me and by the end of class I was getting it. I have not got it yet but with more swim time and practice I might do ok. So that goes to show you that you can teach an old dog new tricks.

Today is a day that is one of the best days and one of the days we have a golden opportunity and that opportunity is, we get to go to church. I look around sometimes in church and see people missing for reasons that are very simple. People in other countries do not have the opportunity we have to go to church. Imagine having to sneek the Bible into a home so we don't get caught just to have church. Imagine always looking over your shoulder because you just came from church and don't want to get caught. We have a golden opportunity and we should not miss it just because we want to go to a game or the beach or just hang out with friends. I always look at it this way, God is always there for us why can't we be there for Him. I believe another great opportunity we have and that is Sunday School. It is a class where you get down to the nitty gritty of the Bible and you really learn about God. I am honored to be able to teach in Sunday School and God has blessed me with that ability to get up and teach. Folks let's get real and get to church and you will realize that the people there are just like you, a person in need of a Savior and that Savior is Jesus. Thank Him everyday for the simple things he does like give you air to breath. I am off to church, hope you will too.
