VOICES

So I am going to start out this blog this way, what voices do you listen too? I know as a runner I sometimes just got to motivate myself to just do it. I start thinking before I even start running how I can get out of it and not do it. I know everyone feels this way and we listen to the voices in our heads and we tend to follow them. So what voice are you listening too. While I was out running today and struggling and listening to my voices a song came on my ipod. This song just started to motivate me and I listened to it the rest of my run, I just kept hitting the back button and listening again and again. It made me think about the voices that tell you you can't do it or there is no way you will accomplish what you are about to do. These voice stop us before we ever get started and then we wonder why we can't do what we need to do. The name of the song is The Voice of Truth by Casting crowns and here are the lyrics;

Oh,what I would do to have
the kind of faith it takes
To climb out of this boat I'm in
Onto the crashing waves
To step out of my comfort zone
Into the realm of the unknown
Where Jesus is,
And he's holding out his hand
But the waves are calling out my name
and they laugh at me
Reminding me of all the times
I've tried before and failed
The waves they keep on telling me
time and time again
"Boy, you'll never win,
You you'll never win
But the Voice of truth tells me a different story
the Voice of truth says "do not be afraid!"
and the Voice of truth says "this is for My glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the Voice of truth
Oh, what I would do
to have the kind of strength it takes
To stand before a giant
with just a sling and a stone
Surrounded by the sound
of a thousand warriors
shaking in their armor
Wishing they'd have had the strength to stand
But the giant's calling out
my name and he laughs at me
Reminding me of all the times
I've tried before and failed
The giant keeps on telling me
time and time again
"Boy you'll never win,
you'll never win."
But the voice of truth tells me a different story
the Voice of truth says "do not be afraid!"
and the Voice of truth says "this is for My glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the Voice of truth
But the stone was just the right size
to put the giant on the ground
and the waves they don't seem so high
from on top of them looking down
I will soar with the wings of eagles
when I stop and listen to the sound of Jesus
singing over me
But the Voice of truth tells me a different story
The Voice of truth says "do not be afraid!"
And the Voice of truth says "this is for my glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me (calling out to me)
I will choose to listen and believe (I will choose to listen and believe)
I will choose to listen and believe the Voice of truth
I will listen and believe
I will listen and believe the Voice of truth
I will listen and believe
'Cause Jesus you are the Voice of truth
And I will listen to you.. oh you are the Voice of truth.

Let's listen to that still small voice and tell us we can do it if we just put our strength in Him. We must listen to the voice of TRUTH.

When my alarm went off at 4:30am to tell me to get up and go to the gym..the voices in my head told me to stay put. Take a day off..it's comfy and warm. For 15 minutes they had me convinced! Then, from somewhere, a louder voice told me to get my a$$ up and be grateful that I could get up and go!
I made it at 0500 and let the sweet sound of The Eagles led the way to a great workout!

CS,

Thank you so much for this posting and the words to the song. What an absolutely wonderful way to wake up on a Sunday morning. I don't excercise like I should and the words won't get me to excercise more but......the meaning of the song gives me strength to face the day and the next, and the next. It is not for us but for His Glory. My first thought was, would I be brave enough to step out of the boat?

May G-d Bless you and your family.
