I think we all have traditions that we do on Christmas. One of ours is going to the movies. We do not do it on Christmas day but the days after. This year we went out and seen the movie "Night at the Museum." It was a good movie and I am glad we started this tradition. We always try to find a fun movie to see, nothing real serious but something we can laugh at.

I remember going out one year and there really was not much to see so we watched the Chipmunk movie. I guess you can say we were desperate that day. It is always fun to start something and keep it going. I do not remember how long ago we started this but I am glad we did. We all have different movies that we would like to see but we all end up voting on the one that will make us laugh.

Well I hope everyone had a good Christmas and you did not have to take much back. If you had family come in make sure you enjoy them and have a great weekend.

This is one of those days when you look back and remember when your kids were small. You remember staying up late and doing those last minute touch ups to get things under the tree. Remember the hours you spent putting stuff together and then going back to read the directions when you got stuck.

Time sure goes by fast because now they are 18 and 20 and you are not up late anymore. You just sit here drinking coffee waiting for them to get up so you an open presents. We did do our normal Christmas eve where we read the Christmas story and opened one present. My daughter came up with the idea this year that we open our stockings instead of a present. That was fun because there are a lot of small things in the stockings.

One of the things I like about this time of year are the Christmas traditions. We had one when I was growing up and I continued it on to my family. On Christmas eve we enjoy Polish food like Kielbasa and Pirogi. We will cook the kielbasa different every year. This year my wife made it into a rice casserole. It was GREAT.

I hope everyone who is reading this has a great Christmas and if you can let's say a prayer for our men and woman who serve in our armed forces. This is a tough time of year for them being away from your family this time of year. I know the feeling because I was gone over Christmas back in 1989 and it is a sad and very long day. So let us always remember these people in our prayers.

Well I hope everyone has a great day today and let us remember the reason for the season.

Well my older daughter has turned 20 today and It seems just like yesterday she was born. I am a very proud Dad that she still wanted me to take her out to eat for her birthday. I have been trying to figure it out when I started doing that. It was a very long time ago that I started taking both my girls out for there birthday.

One of the memories I had was with Elizabeth and again I do not remember her age but she was determined to go to Shoney's for her birthday dinner and I do remember that she ordered spaghetti and the reason she liked Shoney's was because of the mascot. It was a teddy bear and she liked it.

Another memory I have was with Katie and again I do not know what age she was but we went to Captain D's and it is a seafood place. I do remember telling her that when she gets home she will have to wash her hands and face before she got near her Mom. There Mom is allergic to seafood so she was very understandable about that.

One of the funnier memories was when I have taken one of the girls to Captain D's for there birthday dinner and we got home. There Mom asked them what they had for dinner. They answered that they had fish and dog. We were wondering what they meant by dog and it took a while to figure it out. They could not remember hush puppies so they just said dog.

It has been an honor taking my girls out for there birthday all these years and I am a proud Dad that they still want too. I know one day it will stop and that will be a sad day but I will understand that they grew up and have there own lives now.

I want to encourage you and if your kids are still at home start taking them out for there birthdays. It is a great time for you to just sit and talk and laugh and get to know them.

Thanks Girls Dad loves you....

Well the time has finally come and right now I am not sure what to think about it. This coming Monday August 11th my youngest daughter moves into her dorm room and is off to college. It feels like it was just yesterday they were born. My oldest is starting her junior year and I guess the one thing I am happy for is that they are going to the same school and they are not that far away from us.

I am really proud of my girls and happy that they are growing up. They both will live in a dorm so it will just be me and my wife. It is a day you look forward too but at the same time, your kids are leaving and it is still hard.

I heard all the things that they never really leave and they will be back. I know this but you still have to let them grow and learn things on their own. I have a great relationship with my girls and to some people that seems weird but we do get along very well and I will miss them.

To my daughters, I love you and I am so very proud of you for being the people that you are. You are both very different from one another and that is awesome too. You made Mom and I very proud and we are very happy how you have grown up and become the woman that you are.

Well here is my gripe for the day.
I was always brought up to say Sir or Ma'am to whom ever I am talking too. So I looked up the word Sir in the dictionary and it defines sir as a respectful or formal term of address used to a man: I also looked up Ma'am and it says  is used as a title of respect, especially when addressing a lady. Now with that being said maybe we should know that when someone calls you Ma'am or Sir it is out of respect and not an insult.

I have had people tell me when I say Sir that Sir is my dad and that is not me. I will still call you Sir. My daughters have been raised up to say Sir or Ma'am and it is out of respect.

So the next time someone calls you Sir or Ma'am, remember that they are showing the respect you deserve and they are not saying you are old or as an insult. Take the respect you might not get it all the time.

This morning I went out running and it was probably the nicest morning for a run in July here in Tennessee. I ran for about 3 miles and then went inside the gym to stretch and cool down. As I was leaving I seen the  sun coming up over the mountain. I had to just stop and look at it through the window. It was awesome as you just watch it and see it slowly coming up. At first you just see the top of the sun peeking through the trees and a few minutes later you see half of it. I sometimes look at it and realize that God has given me another day to serve Him. I see the sun coming up and wonder that there are many days that we take this for granted. Everyday the sun will rise and we have another opportunity to live our lives.

I think we should all just take the time to get up and watch the sun just rise into our lives. It is a great inspiration to just watch another day start and be thankful that we are a part of that day. The sun rises to give us another chance at life to either do it right or do it wrong. Let's take every sun rise and look to do it right. This is not what I seen this morning but I wanted you to have a sunrise.

Let's enjoy our day.

I don't know if you ever watched the miniseries Band of Brothers. I watched it once a long time ago and I broke it back out again and this time I have my wife watching it with me.It is funny how you have all these personalities in one place yet they all still get along like brothers. I don't know what it is but when you put that uniform on it just seems like everything just clicks. It seems weird but when you go off to a military school and you just meet a bunch of new guys and girls and we are all wearing the same uniform. Things just click and you have so much in common and it feels like you  have known each other for a long time. I guess that is why I look forward to drill, even though we only see eac other once a month we get together and it is like we never left each other. I really like my band of brothers that I serve with. I hope you have a band of brothers that you can call your own.

Well It has been a while since I really got out and ran. So I started again last week and trying to run at least 2 days a week. I started easy and started at 3 miles and it was a booger. I had to stop quite a bit. So I made a goal to keep trying until I get the 3 miles in without stopping. Even though I am walking a little bit I am still doing it in good time. I usually listen to a podcast from Saddleback church while running so this way as I am exercising my body I am also exercising my mind and soul. I also have been doing a class on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and it is called boot camp and it just works out your whole body. It keeps your heart rate up the whole time you are there. It is a lot of fun and good for your body. Well that is what is going on with me so far this week. I hope you all have a great day.
