WHAT IS YOUR STORY

What is your story?

If you ask people to tell you their story I bet that the answer you get is” I don’t have a story.” Yes everyone has a story. Let me ask you a few questions that can get your mind thinking on what your story is.

How did you get to be where you are right now?

How did you get to be where you are living right now?

If you are in a different state from where you grew up how did you get there?

How did you meet your husband, wife, girlfriend, or boyfriend?

How did you get your job?

When did you pick up that habit?

When did you kick that habit?

How did the Lord become part of your life?

If you answer these questions you have a story.

I think it is awesome when you listen to people talking and they start sharing their life and the things they been through and the enjoyment they had in life. They don’t realize it but they are telling their story. If you don’t say a word and just let them talk you will see that they have been through a lot of things both good and bad. Sometimes we need to hear other people’s story and think about the things they are sharing and then we realize that we do not have it that bad.

As I was writing this out I remembered that I have a story to tell and a life that can be shared because of my story. Watch the video then answer the question.

So now let me ask again.
WHAT IS YOUR STORY?

CHOICES

You know everyday we make choices in our lives and I think the first choice we make in the morning is " do we get up or hit the snooze button". I bet a lot of us hit the snooze button and try to go back to sleep for just 5 or 7 minutes. Then we hit it again. Then we realize that we hit it too many times and now we are running late for work, school or whatever. It's a choice we make.

We make so many choices everyday and some are not life endangering they are just a choice. What socks do I wear? Where do I get my coffee? Should I stop for breakfast or just wait till lunch? That is just a few of them after you are running around trying to find your keys because you hit the snooze button one too many times.

I looked up the word choice in the dictionary and it said

choice

  1. the act of choosing; selection
  2. the right, power, or chance to choose; option
  3. a person or thing chosen
  4. the best or most preferable part
  5. a variety from which to choose
  6. a supply that is well chosen
Some of the choices that we make are not good ones and only you know what bad choices you have made. I will not list any here because you already know. I looked up the word choice in the bible and the first scripture that popped up was

“Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!

We must always remember that the choice we make today could affect the outcome of tomorrow. So what ever you do please choose wisely.

This is a great song about our choices.

JULY 3RD

Well here it is again the day before the 4th of July. You sit here and all the commercials are about how you can save money on the very special day. I think we forgot about what it is really for. It is about the day some very great men got together and besides all there differences they signed a very important piece of paper that made us free.

It was a day that we all forget about and we are just glad we got the day off from work. We get to go watch fireworks and just enjoy ourselves. The day they signed this piece of paper I bet there was a lot more going on besides the signing of this paper.

This was taken from Wikipedia.

"Fifty-six delegates to the Second Continental Congress in Philadelphia signed the United States Declaration of Independence, a statement announcing that the thirteen American colonies then at war with Great Britain were now independent states, and thus no longer a part of the British Empire. Although the wording of the Declaration was approved by Congress on July 4, 1776, the date of its signing has been disputed. Most historians have concluded that it was signed nearly a month after its adoption, on August 2, 1776, and not on July 4 as is commonly believed."

It does not really matter when it was signed but here you had 56 people all coming together to agree on the same thing. We cannot get that today with a room full of Senators or Congressman. That is because they are all out for there own agenda and not really looking out for the people. I want to say thank you to the 56 who put all things aside just so we can be free.

Here are the names.
1. John Hancock (Massachusetts)
            9. Stephen Hopkins
            10. William Ellery
            11. Roger Sherman
            15. William Floyd

49. John Penn

Thank you gentlemen.
22. John Hart
24. Robert Morris

I TURNED 50

It has been over a month now that I turned 50. My wife did ask me if I wanted a party and I just was not sure. I was out cutting grass and decided to have a reunion of friends instead of a party. I invited friend that I do not see that often or have not seen in a long time. It was great and we had a great time. Then right after that things got real busy and you do not think about it much.

Well it seems like this last week I started thinking about it and you start wondering about things. I remember when I turned 40 and my eyesight started going. I went to the eye doctor and he asked if I ever wore glasses, I told him no and he said you will now and you will have bifocals. From no glasses to bifocals, all in one visit.

A week after turning 50 I did receive my AARP card and of course you cannot use it until you pay for the membership for it, LOL. Age does not seem to bother me but this one got me thinking. I started thinking about retirement even though I still have a long way to go to get there. The way time is going by so fast it will be here before you know it.

I guess 50 is just another number and life still goes on whether your 50 or not and you got to just keep moving forward. Well with that said I guess I just look forward to 60 next. I remember when I was younger I would always say 30 was old or 40 was old until I got there and then I would push it up ten years and say that age is old. The way I feel right now I am doing great especially when you have a great family supporting you. Have a great day..

FRIDAY

Well this is the last day of our first full week back to work. This actually means that the holidays are over and the next holiday I believe is Memorial day. It is a long ways away but we have something to look forward too. I guess when you have been at a job as long as I have (24 years) it is just another week.

I think the thing I look forward to the most is the planning for future vacations. I get 4 weeks vacation a year and I will guarantee you this that I use everyone of those day. We have to or we use them so I make sure they get used.

The one vacation I put in for is a family vacation this summer. The whole family will be together so we are taking advantage of it. My girls are getting older and seem to be going there different ways. This summer might be our last summer that we are all together. So with that said we are going to spend it together and I look forward to it.

So far this first full week has been productive but slow in a way too. I did get back into the swing of being back at the gym since it was closed over the Christmas holiday. I am hoping the rest of year does get more productive but not too crazy as it seems it does. Well let me get going so I can finish this week right and head to work.
